v0.002.2: Performance Checks & Optimization



This is a very small update that addresses some performance issues and minor bugs. A few people reported poor performance with 0.002.1, and while I cannot check performance on other machines than my own, I did optimize a few culprits that will (hopefully) make the game run better.

If you have experienced any sort of performance issues that made the prior version impossible or less enjoyable to play, I highly recommend swapping out for this build as it runs a bit more smoothly and fixes a few other things. If you have already played 0.002.1 without issue and had your fill until there are new levels, you can skip this version, as there really isn't anything new aside from optimization and bugfixes.

To those who experienced issues before - Please let me know how this update affects performance, regardless of whether it fixes the issues or if they still exist, so I can tell how much I should prioritize further optimization in the immediate future.

All Characters

  • Fixed oversight where falling through a death plane and landing on a lower section of a level can respawn you down there instead of where you actually fell from

Atien Ebrias

  • Increased slash hitbox height and width, resulting in less cases of "he should have hit that"

Enemies

  • Burst Turrets now have 1 HP (experimental idea; might divide the enemy into multiple subtypes in future)
  • Adjusted delay between Air Turret's first and second projectile (also experimental)

Objects

  • Decreased radius of wind from fans and made wind effect visually despawn slightly sooner
  • Disabled Tick on everything that had it on by default but didn't use it, which was... most things in the game. I believe this was a big part of framerate issues - even though the Ticks were completely empty, the calls apparently still added up
  • Removed a visual effect from foliage grass. I don't believe this makes any sort of difference visually, and removing that seemed to reduce slowdown and hitches by a decent margin
  • Removed "Times Died" statistic on level clear; the counter kept breaking and I don't think it's too important. I'll re-add it if anyone asks me to, though

Levels

  • Fixed a gap in death planes in Rise Park separating the upper and lower levels
  • Fixed Rise Park's missing time targets

Miscellaneous

  • Fixed Delete Save Data button not properly updating the level select display
